If a person smiles and the smile is crooked, it might be a sign of an oncoming stroke. Also, if the person’s face appears stiff or paralyzed on one side during a smile, it might be a stroke. When a person cannot lift one of his hands as high as the other, there might be some motor function problem leading up to a stroke. Other signs of a stroke are trouble walking, speech problems, dizziness, loss of coordination, loss of balance, double vision, blurred or blackened vision and severe, sudden headache.
