Snoring, disordersSnoring is pretty irritating during sleep and gives many sleepless nights. This is caused due to vibrations in your mouth and throat as you breathe in during sleep. One of the most important cues of snoring is just being overweight. Most people accumulate weight on their upper torso over time and create extra pressure to their necks and hence this leads to snoring. This is prevalent in male in earlier ages but this is prominent in woman also after menopause.
Other causes are smoking and alcohol consumption. These tend to inflame your muscles along the nasal passages or relax the muscles in your air ducts which ultimately lead to snoring. Even sleeping positions can affect and cause snoring. Improper sleeping positions can result in added pressure to the breathing process and thereby cause people to snore. Another easily overlooked temporary cause of snoring is nasal congestion due to colds.
